If you're moving from San Bernardino to Michigan, you're looking at roughly 2,234 miles and one of the stronger financial cases for relocation I've seen. California hits you on three fronts at once — housing costs, taxes, and overall cost of living are all near the top nationally. The move to Michigan doesn't erase the trade-offs (winters are genuinely cold, and 64 inches of snow per year is real), but the financial picture shifts significantly in your favor.
Here's what you need to plan this move: which San Bernardino companies are worth calling, what it actually costs by home size and service type, and an honest breakdown of the life differences waiting on the other end.

Alex Moving and Storage
1877 N Massachusetts Ave, San Bernardino, CA 92411
Yelp: 4.3 / 5 (68 reviews) · Google reviews (58 reviews) · BBB: A+
43% positive / 55% negative
State license #0164751 | 35 years in business | DOT #582228 | Also operates as: Uribe Trucking, Inc.
Thirty-five years in the business counts for something — but that review split is hard to overlook. More than half of analyzed feedback came back negative, with damaged items and lost boxes as the most common complaints. When moves go well, customers point to fast, friendly crews and efficient service. When they go wrong, the issues center on handling failures and poor claims follow-through. Worth getting a quote, but I'd want written inventory documentation and full-valuation coverage locked in before anything gets on the truck.
Services: Local, interstate, international, packing/unpacking, pianos, hot tubs, pool tables, art, antiques, crating, crane vans, shipment tracking, full-valuation coverage, storage, fragile-only packing, credit card accepted, DOD certified.
Burgess Moving and Storage
1625 Iowa Ave., Riverside, CA 92507
Yelp: 4.4 / 5 (62 reviews) · BBB: A+
86% positive / 11% negative
State license #0056647 | 78 years in business | DOT #070851 | Also operates as: Burgess North America, North American Moving & Storage, Inland Moving & Storage Company
78 years in this business is not an accident. Burgess consistently earns praise for professional crews, careful handling, and clear coordination — the things that actually matter on a 2,000-mile move. The 11% negative feedback focuses on post-move gaps: unresolved damage claims, delayed deliveries, surprise charges. Those are real issues, but they represent a small share of an otherwise strong record. Solid name to include in your quote comparison for this route.
Services: Local, interstate, international, packing/unpacking, offices, pianos, art, crating, shipment tracking, full-valuation coverage, storage, fragile-only packing, credit card accepted.
VIP Transport, Inc.
2703 Wardlow Rd, Corona, CA 92882
Yelp: 4.6 / 5 (95 reviews) · Google reviews (80 reviews) · BBB: A+
89% positive / 9% negative
State license #0137029 | 43 years in business | DOT #125563 | Also operates as: Mayflower Transit, United Van Lines
The highest-rated company on this list — 4.62 stars across 244 reviews, with 89% positive feedback. That's a meaningful sample at a strong ratio. Customers consistently describe efficient crews, clear office communication, and careful handling of belongings. VIP Transport operates as a licensed agent for Mayflower, which means they have the carrier network to manage long-haul interstate shipments at scale. They also operate under the United Van Lines banner, adding further reach for Michigan-bound deliveries. The 9% negative feedback covers claims delays and occasional communication lapses — not a dealbreaker given the overall record.
Services: Local, interstate, international, packing/unpacking, offices, pianos, art, antiques, crating, shipment tracking, full-valuation coverage, storage, cash and credit card accepted.
