Browning Moving & Storage
3965 West Pensacola Street, Tallahassee, FL 32304 📞 (850) 576-1231
91% positive | 9% negative (out of 138 reviews)
Yelp: 4.5 / 5 (9 reviews) · Google reviews (123 reviews) · BBB: Grade A+
State license #: 41 | DOT #: 077949 | 37 years in business Also known as: Fister Moving & Storage, Inc.
Browning has 37 years behind it, and the reviews back that up. Out of 138 inputs, 91% are positive — customers consistently point to careful handling, professional crews, and solid communication. The complaints that do appear involve damaged or lost items and the occasional delivery delay, but they're a clear minority in the overall picture. On a long haul like this, consistency matters more than a perfect score, and Browning's track record suggests they deliver it most of the time.
Services: Local, interstate, international, packing, unpacking, offices, crating, storage, fragile-only packing, credit cards accepted.
TWO MEN AND A TRUCK
130 4 Points Way, Tallahassee, FL 32305 📞 (850) 629-0098
96% positive | 3% negative (out of 288 reviews)
Yelp reviews (24 reviews) · Google reviews (621 reviews) · BBB: Grade A
State license #: 2068 | DOT #: 2527384 | 34 years in business Also known as: Black Wolf Moving Florida, LLC
96.2% positive across 288 reviews is genuinely hard to argue with. Customers highlight fast crews, accurate communication, and moves that routinely finish under the time and cost estimate. When things do go wrong, it's usually damage claims or a final bill that didn't match the quote — and those appear to be outliers, not a pattern. The franchise model can be hit-or-miss nationally, but this Tallahassee location has clearly built a strong local reputation.
Services: Local, interstate, packing, unpacking, pianos, storage, safes, credit cards accepted.
Community Moving & Storage
3965 West Pensacola Street, Tallahassee, FL 32303 📞 (850) 576-1017
94% positive | 0% negative (out of 17 reviews)
Google reviews · BBB: Grade A+
DOT #: 125563 | 14 years in business
The review count is lower here, but the signal is consistent — 94% positive with zero negative reviews on file. Clients mention solid team coordination, organized packing, and a communication style that doesn't leave you guessing about where your stuff is. The main gap is proactive updates on delivery timing, which a few reviewers flagged. Minor gripe in an otherwise clean record. Worth a quote if you want a smaller operator with a hands-on approach to your move.
Services: Local, interstate, packing, unpacking, offices, pianos, pool tables, art, antiques, grandfather clocks, crating, storage, fragile-only packing, credit cards accepted.
Pinky's Moving Service
1500 Capital Circle SE, Tallahassee, FL 32301 📞 (850) 212-4627
79% positive | 20% negative (out of 247 reviews)
Yelp reviews (33 reviews) · Google reviews (283 reviews) · BBB: Grade B-
State license #: 2100 | DOT #: 2356292 | 13 years in business
Pinky's is the mixed bag on this list. Crew-level feedback is genuinely solid — fast movers, careful handling, pricing that customers describe as fair and transparent. About 80% of customers walked away satisfied. The 20% who didn't, however, describe serious issues: confrontational management, recurring damage to belongings, and unexpected upcharges that weren't disclosed upfront. The BBB Grade B- is a flag worth noting alongside that complaint rate. If you go with Pinky's, get every detail in writing before the truck shows up — and understand that a smooth move doesn't guarantee a smooth resolution if something goes wrong afterward.
Services: Local, interstate, packing, unpacking, offices, shipment tracking, fragile-only packing, credit cards accepted.
Mike's Moving
3109 W Tennessee St., Tallahassee, FL 32304 📞 (850) 545-3737
72% positive | 26% negative (out of 123 reviews)
Yelp reviews (16 reviews) · Google reviews (109 reviews) · BBB: Grade A+
DOT #: 799596 | 33 years in business Also known as: Tallahassee Motor Coach, Go Mini Storage Tallahassee, Mike's Limousine Luxury
Mike's scores lowest on this list, and the 26% negative rate is meaningful at that review volume. Customers who had good experiences praise speed, fair pricing, and friendly crews — real strengths. But complaints about unreturned calls, hidden charges, and management that goes quiet when issues arise appear too consistently to dismiss. The BBB A+ rating doesn't reconcile with the customer review picture; I'd weight the actual review data more heavily here. Request a quote for comparison purposes, but go in with realistic expectations about what happens if something needs to be resolved after delivery.
Services: Local, interstate, packing, unpacking, offices, pianos, art, antiques, crating, full-valuation coverage, fragile-only packing, cash and credit cards accepted.

Your actual cost depends on home size, access conditions, add-on services, fuel rates, and scheduling. Fuel is included in the truck rental estimates. Always compare quotes from at least three movers.
Cost to hire movers from Tallahassee to Massachusetts
For a studio or one-bedroom, hiring a long-distance moving company typically runs $1,011 to $4,005. That's a wide range — crew size, packing services, and whether you're using a carrier or a broker all pull the number in different directions.
A two- or three-bedroom home lands between $2,207 and $5,399. Four or more bedrooms? Budget $4,111 to $7,162. At that scale, getting itemized quotes from multiple movers pays for the time it takes.
Cost of moving containers from Tallahassee to Massachusetts
Moving containers — PODS and similar portable storage options — cost $889 to $2,200 for a studio or one-bedroom on this route. Two- to three-bedroom loads run $1,528 to $3,106, and larger homes land between $2,157 and $4,040.
The trade-off is familiar: you load on your own schedule, which suits organized movers who don't mind the physical work. It also removes some of the time pressure that comes with a full-service crew on the clock.
Cost of moving truck rentals from Tallahassee to Massachusetts
A rental truck is the cheapest option, but it puts all the driving and labor on you — across 1,295 miles. Expect to pay $761 to $1,495 for a studio or one-bedroom load, $814 to $1,727 for two to three bedrooms, and $1,013 to $2,064 for larger homes. These estimates include fuel, but budget separately for hotels and meals if you're spreading the drive over multiple days.
Factors influencing moving costs from Tallahassee to MA
Three things move the needle most on what you'll pay:
- Move size: Weight and volume drive the quote more than almost anything else. A studio is a fundamentally different job than a four-bedroom house.
- Time of year: Summer moves — June through August — mean peak pricing and tighter availability. Fall or early spring often yields better rates and more scheduling flexibility.
- DIY vs. professional movers: Renting a truck saves money upfront but costs time and physical effort. Hiring professionals costs more but reduces risk to your belongings and your back.

Other considerations when moving to Massachusetts
Beyond hiring movers and packing boxes, here's what you need to sort out before and after arriving:
- HOA rules: If you're moving into an HOA community, check for move-in day restrictions or designated hours before you book your crew.
- Elevator reservation: Many Massachusetts apartment buildings — especially in Boston — require you to reserve the freight elevator for your moving day. Book it as early as possible.
- Truck parking permits: Some cities require a street parking permit for moving trucks. Confirm with the building manager or local city hall before your move date.
- State licensing: Massachusetts movers must hold a license from the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities – Transportation Oversight Division. They're required to carry adequate cargo insurance and publicly file their tariffs. Verify your mover's license before you sign anything.
- State regulator: You can check a mover's Massachusetts license status through the state regulator's website anytime.
- Moving permits: No general moving permit is required in Massachusetts, but local parking rules vary — confirm logistics with your city or town.
- Change of address: File your USPS change of address form at least a week before your move so mail starts forwarding to Massachusetts without a gap.
- Moving insurance: Massachusetts movers are required to offer Released Value Protection at no cost, but it only covers 60 cents per pound per item. For anything valuable, ask about full-value coverage or look into a third-party insurance policy before your move date.
- Moving checklist: Run through our moving checklist before and after the move — it's easier to catch what you've missed before the truck leaves than after.

Can I find movers that build custom crates in Tallahassee?
Yes. Four of the six interstate-capable movers in Tallahassee offer custom crating, which matters if you're moving high-value artwork, antiques, or fragile pieces that standard packing won't protect. Ask about construction specs and lead times when you request a quote.
